    Position: Deputy Director (National Phone Bank Program)
    Location: Chicago, Illinois
    Start Date: 1/1/2020 (Flexible)
    Salary: $45,000 - $65,000 / year

    Progressive Turnout Project seeks a Deputy Director for its Turnout 2020 Nationwide Volunteer Phone Bank campaign. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about organizing mass, nationwide engagement into key presidential and Senate battleground states to enact political change. We're looking for a creative problem solver to help us build out the program to have significant, nationwide participation leading up to the 2020 election.


    The Deputy Director will work with the Director to operationlize a massive virtual phone bank program to make commit to vote, vote plan, and GOTV calls into swing states. Volunteers will be able to make calls from anywhere across the country using a predictive dialer system that will be calling inconsistent Democratic voters in those states.


    The Deputy Director will work with the director to get the program up and running, and then assist in the hiring of staff who will build out various elements of the program, such as volunteer recruitment, training, and distributed event coordination.


    The Deputy Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the program under the guidance of the Director.


    This is a full time paid position based in Chicago, Illinois. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience. The position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k) with employer match, student loan stipend, public transportation stipend, 3 weeks paid time off per year, and 11 paid holidays.

    • Collaborate the Director to develop programs to ensure that volunteers are joining the program, showing up for their call shifts, staying active and working to recruit other volunteers in large numbers

    • Coordinate with the communications staff to develop materials and systems to recruit, remind, and inspire volunteers to participate in the program

    • Coordinate with data staff to make sure that the phone bank system is effectively running and that data is properly managed

    • Assist in the hiring and management of staff who will operationalize the virtual phone bank program

    • Organize and support volunteers who will be making calls nationwide from their homes and from regular call parties and other events

    • Identify opportunities to increase effectiveness of program and ways to better incentivize volunteer engagement


    Recquired Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):

    • You are passionabe about winning in 2020 and working to engage activists to help make that happen

    • You can quickly learn new skills and tools

    • You enjoy coming up with ways to engage large numbers of people in a way that they feel included and inspired to take action again

    • You are comfortable managing or learning to manage a team of people to work intensely over a relatively short period of time to produce large volunteer engagement results

    • You are good at finding ways to get people excited about taking action

    Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

    • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and would be excited to help create a new program

    • You have the experience of building a customer service related business or organization

    • You have worked with EveryAction or helped to manage a predictive dialing program

    • You have experience working as an organizer
